Podcast Reflection

I have to say, I was totally in awe when I first visited the podcast section in the iTunes store. I didn't realize there were so many possibilities and much to my wife's disapproval, I have spent countless hours watching or listening to podcasts.
For my podcast subscription, I chose Tony Vincent's "Learning in Hand: iPods". He had many useful strategies and techniques for teachers and students to use iPods in their classrooms rather than just for music. I found the podcast on using iQuizes under the games category very interesting. Where teachers can customize thier own quizes for the students. Our district doesn't currently offer any tecnology that would support iPods, but I am interested to see what will happen in the future if all these options are available.

Introduction

Hi, My name is Darin Toelle. Welcome to my blog.

I am a sixth grade teacher at Twin Ridge Elementary in Bellevue, NE. This is my eighth year at TR. I manage to keep busy. In addition to sixth grade teacher, I am our school's intermediate team leader, website manager/tech person, and student council sponsor. I am also co-chair of our district's science committee and on the district's grading committee.

Although my plate is full with school duties, the best part of my day comes when I see our daughter's smile after school. My wife, who is a physical education teacher in the district, and I had our first child who turns one this January. She is a true blessing. It's amazing at how quickly they learn, and I am fascinated by her every move.

With all of our busy schedules and fast paced lives, I still get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Whether hunting, boating, biking, or trail riding, being outdoors keeps the balance between the everything high-speed in today's technology age and the simplicity and beauty of nature.

I am looking forward to the challenges and inevitable frustrations learnign new technology, and I hope to gain some new tools to use in the classroom. I look forward to working with you all in class.
Darin
